The charity Safe Passage is urging people to write to the home secretary and press for family reunion rights to be restored.

Since September 2025, family members have no longer been able to use the Refugee Family Reunion scheme and bring their relatives, mostly women and children, to join them in the UK.

This leaves very few options for separated families. One Palestinian man, on an academic scholarship at a UK university, was recently informed that his wife and children, living in a refugee camp in Gaza, would have to apply for visas at a UK consulate, even though  there are none in Gaza.
